WHO WE ARE
Southwick Neighbourhood Youth Project (SNYP) is a community-based charity rooted in the heart of Southwick, Sunderland. For five decades, we have worked alongside young people and families to create opportunities, provide support, and build a stronger, more connected community.
We are a small but dedicated team of youth workers, volunteers, and partners who believe that every young person deserves a safe space, a listening ear, and the chance to thrive.
Why We Exist
SNYP exists to improve the lives of young people and their families in Southwick and
the surrounding areas. We provide a wide range of free, accessible, and inclusive
services that support emotional wellbeing, promote opportunity, and reduce
inequality.
Our Mission
To empower young people through positive relationships, inclusive activities, and
community-based support. Our mission is grounded in the belief that everyone
should feel valued, heard, and hopeful for the future.
Our Objectives (based on our constitution):
- To advance education and relieve poverty among young people.
- To provide recreational and leisure-time activities in the interests of social welfare.
- To promote social inclusion and reduce disadvantage in our community.
- To act as a resource for young people by providing advice, assistance, and opportunities for development.
