What if I have no qualifications?
Most jobs and apprenticeships nowadays require individuals to have a minimum of a grade C in Gcse (O-Level) maths and English, however, this varies massivley depending upon the position/ job you are applying for. However, that being said there are now numerous jobs which don't require individuals to have GCSE qualifications such as level 2 apprenticeships in engineering and hair and beuty, for example. Moreover, there are many schemes, particularly in the North East, which aim to help people with no qualifications get into full-time or part-time employment. What about college?
Going to college is a big step in a young persons life, like going to university. In Sunderland there are many choices of college or 6th form and there is a huge range of courses available from level 2 diploma's to A-levels, the opportunities are endless. If you wish to go to college you must first consider what course you would like to study and at what level. This is important because you need certain qualifications for some courses. For example, most people can get onto a level 2 diploma course if they have a good attitude, however to do ALevels you must have particular GCSE qualifications. Therefore, you need to research the course before appying, as you may need some help getting on to the selected course.
